The top of the mobile was created using bamboo rings I found at Michaels. I think they were being sold as purse handles or something along those lines. They worked out nicely to create a frame for the mobile and I used ribbon to string four strands of Chiyogami butterflies from it. As a final touch I tied silver beads to the bottom of the ribbons to add weight to each strand so that they would hang more straight. They still got pretty tangled up during the transport but it wasn't too hard to sort it all out afterwards!

Butterfly Mobile
I made this butterfly mobile along with Elouise & Elmore as baby shower gifts for my friend Brigitte. The little wooden butterflies, dragonflies, and birds came from The Paper Place on Queen street which has a beautiful selection of Chiyogami paper. One side of each piece was covered with Chiyogami paper while the other side had a plain but pretty paper onto which friends at the party could sign their names and a short message.

Elouise & Elmore
Alrighty - I finished my baby shower gift for my good friend Brigitte who is expecting next month and I'm very excited to give it to her! Here are Elouise & Elmore, made from the same fabric patterns that she chose for making her baby's quilt (...or at least I think they are!).
Boy was it tricky getting the ears on these elephants. I kept accidentally sewing through one of the ears while the heads were inside-out, and then I'd have to spend 10 minutes with the seam ripper to undo the error. They took about six hours each to make from start to finish but were worth every ounce of effort.
I must say I'm getting tonnes of sewing practice this month which is great. In addition to Elouise and Elmore I'm making a red summer dress in my Intermediate sewing class and I'm helping to sew decorations for my friend's wedding in August. I hope I'm not in over my head!
